Valérie Billet
Visual artist — Sète
Between matter, memory and transformation, Valérie Billet explores the traces of time through sculpture, painting and drawing.

Approach
Imprint, trace, memory
A self-taught artist, she lives and works in Sète. Her work is rooted in childhood and inspired by her immediate surroundings; beyond a purely aesthetic search, it questions the imprint, the trace, interaction, memory, the scar, construction.

Giving the skeleton back to the whale
2022–2023
A childhood memory of Sète: the half-buried whale skeleton in the garden of the Oceanographic Museum, brought back in concrete blocks. An installation designed for a park or a city centre, born of the Art Lab City residency.
